Checkout & taking payment

Review the invoice, apply discounts, record payments by any method, and finalise so the patient can be discharged.

Every treatment plan has exactly one invoice. It's created at the first checkout and tracks the line items, subtotal, any discount, how much has been paid, and the remaining balance.

Taking a payment

When the patient is ready to pay, open the checkout view from the treatment plan (or move them to the Billing stage in the Waiting Room):

  1. Review the line items — procedures, prescriptions and any lab charges.
  2. Apply a discount if needed — a flat amount or a percentage. A discount can never exceed the subtotal.
  3. Record the payment — enter the amount and choose a method.
  4. Print the receipt.

Payment methods

Cash, Card, Mobile Money, Insurance and Waived.

Finalising and discharge

An invoice can be finalised once the balance is cleared. Finalising is what allows the patient to be discharged — the Waiting Room won't let a patient leave until their bill is finalised. Balances can never go negative.

Money in your currency

The currency symbol, decimal format and locale all come from your clinic's settings — nothing is hardcoded — so your receipts and payments always show your own currency and number formatting.

Paying over time?

Patients don't have to pay it all at once. See Installments & receipts for partial payments and receipt formats.
